JEFFREY A. CLARK

Jeffrey A. Clark’s practice focuses on creditors’ rights in state, federal and bankruptcy court actions. Mr. Clark’s clients include General Electric Company, American Honda Finance Corporation, US Bank, JP Morgan Chase and Co., and Daewoo Electronics America, Inc., along with several other banks and financial institutions. In representing creditors, Mr. Clark has litigated in excess of 5,000 files on behalf of creditors. Mr. Clark’s extensive experience includes, in addition to litigation, restructuring loan agreements, levying on debtor’s assets before and after judgement, and due diligence, and analysis of commercial transactions.

 

A graduate of the Southwestern University School of Law in 1976, Mr. Clark received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from the University of California at Los Angeles. Upon graduation, he was elected to Pi Gamma Mu, the National Social Science Honor Society. After graduation from law school, Mr. Clark became associated with a commercial litigation firm in Beverly Hills, California.

 

In 1978, he co-founded a twenty-three lawyer creditors’ rights/insurance defense firm in Los Angeles. Mr. Clark headed and managed the financial institutions/creditors’ rights division of the firm. In 1993, Mr. Clark formed a law firm specializing in the representation of commercial and consumer creditors.

 

Mr. Clark also significantly contributed to the evolution of creditors’ rights law in California, acting as counsel in cases where the appellate courts’ found in favor of creditors’ rights. These published appellate opinions include the following:

 

RCA v. Dodd Conn. Ltd., Inc., 133 Cal. App. 3d 903, 184 Cal. Rptr. 633 (1982);

RCA v. Superior Court of San Francisco, 137 Cal. App. 3d 1, 187 Cal. Rptr. 602 (1982); and,

Danielson v. ITT Industrial Credit Co., 199 Cal. App. 3d 645, 245 Cal. Rptr. 126 (1988).

 

The aformentioned appellate court decisions substantially advanced the cause of commercial and retail collection law in California.
